Michael A. Lazar graduated with honors from the University of Illinois in 1972, with majors in History and Political Science. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1975, with his Juris Doctor Degree.
Upon graduation, he was admitted to the Colorado Bar, at which time he joined the Weld County (Colorado) District Attorneys Office, where he served as a Deputy District Attorney for three years. In the fall of 1978, Michael left the District Attorney's Office and entered private practice. Michael also serves as the Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Johnstown, Colorado, a position he has held for more than 15 years.
Michael A. Lazar has served the citizens of Northern Colorado as an attorney in private practice in a wide area of practices, including Family Law, Criminal Defense and as a Mediator and Arbitrator. Mr. Lazar is a zealous advocate for his clients and an aggressive trial lawyer with experience in jury and bench trials. He is also an experienced negotiator and can assist clients both as an advocate and as a mediator depending on the nature of the case.
Foremost, Mr. Lazar serves the best interests of his clients. He has represented clients in criminal matters, ranging from serious felonies to DUI, domestic violence, miscellaneous misdemeanor and traffic cases. He has represented parties in complex divorce matters and cases involving allocation of parental responsibilities. Recently, he has been appointed by District Court judges to act as a Parenting Coordinator and/or Decision-Maker in high conflict divorce cases.
